BISBEE & TOMBSTONE MINE TOURS

BISBEE: THE QUEEN MINE TOUR
Saturday July 22, 2023

Photo by Kevin JohnsonOn this tour, you will board a mine train and descend 1,500 feet underground into what was once one of the richest copper mines in the history of the US.

The Queen Mine opened in 1877 and discontinued mining operations in the mid-1970's. It opened again as a tour mine in 1976.

The mining district in this area has approximately 2,500 miles of tunnels.

MEET TIME: 9.30 AM (meeting location will be sent @ registration). The Tour starts at 10.30 and you have to be there at least 30 minutes before the tour to check in. 

END TIME: The Tour lasts approximately 1 hour.

The Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum is across street and open for visit following the mine tour. The Museum also offers guided 'Historical Tours" of the town of Bisbee.  If anyone has any other suggestions for additional sites to visit in the afternoon, please feel free to contact the trip leader.

LIMITED TRIP: Minimum of 10 participants and maximum of 32. 

TRAVEL NOTE:  Please allow at least an additional 30 minutes more  than normal to get to the meeting spot.

VEHICLE:  All vehicles will be able to go to this trip.

SAFETY:  The Tour management advises face coverings at this time.  Bring water.

RECOMMENDED: No open toe shoes or high heels, normal day hiking clothing.

MATERIAL:  There is no mineral collection allowed on this tour.

TOMBSTONE: THE GOODENOUGH MINE TOUR
Sunday July 23, 2023

This is a 45 minute fully narrated tour which takes you approximately 100 feet underground into the Goodenough Silver Mine.

This mine has a history going back to the 1880's and is apart of 300 mile labyrinth of tunnels dug beneath Tombstone.

The tour is an easy to walk through tour and has a well lit path and includes a 60 step stairway with handrails.

MEET TIME: We meet at 10.30 am at the Goodenough Mine. Our Tour starts at 11.00 am. Tours are offered every hour from 11.00 AM (meeting location will be sent @ registration). Please be there at least 30 minutes before the tour to check in. 

END TIME: The Tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.  If anyone has any other suggestions for additional sites to visit, please feel free to contact the trip leader. TBD: After the tour we are scheduling to have a visit at The Wizards Workshop on 800 E. Fremont Street.
