Curator MSA Mineral Collection

The MSA has maintained a mineral collection since its earliest days. Bob Jones, MSA's 1964 president, recalls a hurried trip to Bisbee in the late 1960s with a group of MSA members to accept a donation that would become the core of the Society's collection.

MSA signs loan agreement with University of Arizona Gem & Mineral Museum at Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium November 2014-2024.  MSA mineral collection was on a special exhibit at University of Arizona Gem & Mineral Museum at Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium January-December 2014 as part of The Best of the Best, Prize Minerals from the Vaults of Arizona's Collectors and at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show February 12-15 2015.

World-Class Museum in Arizona!

The UArizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum is housed within the historic Pima County Courthouse, an architectural landmark celebrated for its striking Spanish Revival design in the heart of downtown Tucson.

MSA has been a proud partner of the UArizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum since 2021, when it signed a loan agreement as a founding organization extending MSA's legacy of mineral education into Pima County's word-class gem & mineral museum. Today, key Arizona specimens from MSA's Mineral Collection are on permanent display in the Arizona Gallery's Bisbee Stope exhibit, as well as in a dedicated MSA Club Case.
