Saturday, December 2-3, 2023

Day Trip or Overnight

MSA MEMBERS ONLY


MSA is heading to Planet Mine to collect Malachite, Chrysocolla, and Hematite with the possibility of finding Barite, Azurite, and other copper/iron minerals. If time permits, we can be exploring the surrounding Planet Mine area.  

MEET TIME & LOCATION:  

Saturday meet-up ONLY at 8.30 AM (meeting location will be sent @ registration)(Scroll down email for meet-up location).  *** Drive from Phoenix to meet-up location takes approximately 2 hours (128 miles).  ***


END TIME: The trip will end by 4 PM

Please Note: Overnight camping near Planet Mine is optional. You are welcome to join trip on Saturday at meet up for a day trip. We will not meet up on Sunday.

LIMITED TRIP: No Limit

TRAVEL NOTE:  Please allow at least 1/2 hour more time than normal to get to the meeting spot.   **Be sure to have full tank of gas and good tires.**  

VEHICLE:  High clearance vehicles required.  Carpools not being arranged.  **Ensure tires and vehicle in good working condition BEFORE trip. **  

SAFETY:  Please bring a whistle in case we need to find you or gather up the participants.  Sunscreen, hat, gloves, insect repellent, extra water.

RECOMMENDED: sturdy shoes or boots, buckets or backpacks, sledge hammer, rock pick, small shovel, pick hammer, chisel, normal day hiking items.

MATERIAL:  Malachite, Chrysocolla, Hematite, Calcite
